Wheat Beers
1. Blanche de Bruxelles - Sweet wheat beer with coriander and orange peel flavours.
2. St. Bernardus Wit - Highly spiced strong wheat beer.
3. Watou’s Witbier - Possibly the best Belgian wheat beer. Lemony, cloudy, refreshing.
Belgian Lager Beers
4. Hoppepils - Standard lager beer.
5. Sasbrau Dortmunder - Dortmunder-style lager, that does not drink its weight.
6. SAS Pils (Export) - Nice, rounded bitter lager beer.
7. Silly Pils - Better than average lager from the Silly brewery, down south.
8. Slag Lager Beer - A tasty lager beer from those nice family brewers Slaghmuylder.
Blond Beers
10.Biolégère - Excellent organic light saison beer.
11. Brugse Zot Blond - Easy-drinking blond specially built in Bruges for beginners to Belgian beer.
12. De Graal Blond - A spiced blond with dry hopping.
13.Delirium Tremens - Multi award-winning strong cult beer. Follow the pink elephants.
14. Den Tseut - Caramel malty with a bitter aftertaste.
15.Femme Fatale - Light golden beer with a touch of coriander.
16. Gouden Carolus Triple - Well-balanced, big golden triple. Well worth trying.
17. Witkap Special - Pale ale from the excellent Slaghmuylder brewery.
18. Guldenberg - Huge, dryish, hoppy strong blond that excels.
19. Het Kapittel Abt - Light amber aromatic sweetish triple.
20. Het Kapittel Blond - Superb, well-rounded easy drinking blond beer.
21. Hopus - Exciting, brand-new beer from Lefebvre, contains bags of hops.
22. La Chouffe - Classic strong Belgian blond, with hints of coriander.
23. Maredsous 6 - Lovely blond Abbey beer with nice balance of malt and aromatic hop.
24. Maredsous 10 - Big orangey-blond cross between a triple and a barley wine.
25. Moinette blonde - Belgian beer doesn’t get any better than this classic blond ale.
26. Poperings Hommelbier - Strong hoppy pale ale from the hop fields of Flanders.
27. Saison Dupont - Beautiful herbal ale packed with fresh hops.
28. Satan Gold - Devilishly good sweetish golden beer.
29. Taras Boulba - Beautiful light ale with a complex hop character.
30. Val Dieu Blonde - Excellent well-balanced session beer.
31. Valeir Blond - Smooth bottle-fermented beer from family brewery Contreras.
32. Witkap Stimulo - Straw-coloured, fruity beer said to aid digestion.
33. XX Bitter - Fantastic bitter pale ale that is Podge’s favourite.
34. Zinnebier - Well-hopped pale beer that keeps getting better and better.
35. Brueghel - Gentle, easy-drinking fruity amber ale.
36. Bush Beer - Huge English-style Barley Wine that is best drunk as a nightcap.
37. Den Bras - Hazy amber beer with caramel malt and fruit flavours.
38. Kwak - Famous sweetish caramel beer that always goes down well.
39. Orval - Distinctive pale amber ale brewed by Trappist monks.
40. Rodenbach - Refreshing Flemish brown made by blending young and oak-aged beer.
41. Rodenbach Grand Cru - Rodenbach’s big brother but made with more of the older, oak-aged beer.
Dark Beers
42. Buffalo Belgian Stout - Soft and sweetish stout, originally made for the American market.
43. Catherine - The great Russian imperial stout with some mind-boggling flavours.
44. De Graal Dubbel - Brown beer with a distinctive liquorice flavour.
45. Gouden Draak - A festival favourite. This huge dark beer should be treated with respect.
46. Het Kapittel Dubbel - Dark and aromatic with pear drops in the background.
47. Het Kapittel Pater - Good, standard Abbey brown ale.
48. Maredsous 8 - Well-made strong dark dubbel beer with a Demerara sweetness.
49. St Bernardus Pater - Fruity, dark brown, sweetish roasted Dubbel beer.
50. St Bernardus Abt 12 - Massive golden brown Barley Wine.
51. Westmalle Dubbel - Ruddy, brown ale with slight chocolate back tastes. A Trappist classic.
52. Barbar - Amber, blond beer laced with honey.
53. Chocolat Florisgaarden - Belgium is famous for two things. Beer and chocolate. Here are both.
54. De Graal Gember - Tasty blond ginger beer.
55. Echte Kriek - Nice and sourish, made by steeping whole cherries in aged brown beer.
56. Framboise Timmermans - Sweet raspberry beer.
57. Kriek Timmermans - Sweet cherry beer.
58. Liefmans - Brand new beer available for the first time in UK. A red cherry beer blended with natural juice of strawberry, raspberry, blueberry and juniper.
59. Mongozo Coconut - Yes, this really is a coconut beer (Fair Trade).
60. Mongozo Banana - Beer made from Fair Trade bananas.
61. Passion Florisgaarden- Passion Fruit flavoured beer.
62. Peche Timmermans - Sweet peach flavoured beer.
63. Pink Killer - Pink grapefruit flavoured, refreshing light beer.
64. Rose des Remparts - Sweet raspberry beer.
65. Strawberry Florisgaarden - Strawberry flavoured beer.
Lambic Beers
These are unique beers made using the natural airborne yeasts in a small area west and south of Brussels. They all have a characteristic sourish taste. The gueuze is bottled blended lambic beer and the Kriek is lambic beer with added cherries, not commercial syrups, but real cherries.
